Enlightened Heart Retreat

A Month Long Guided Retreat
January 3 - 25, 2010
Enlightenment is the highest experience of happiness and the real meaning of human life. Buddha gave 84,000 teachings which give many profound methods for purifying and controlling our mind. Kadampa Buddhism presents a simple and practical way to realize the meaning of all these teachings and put them into practice in our daily lives. These are included in the Lamrim and Mahamudra instructions. By developing a daily practice of these instructions we can learn how to integrate all Buddha’s teachings into our daily life and accomplish the highest goal of human life.
The Resident Teacher, Kelsang Chokyan, will give instructions and guide three or four sessions of retreat each day during this very special month. Everyone is welcome to stop by and participate in any session. No pre-registration or previous experience is necessary. Donations are welcome.
Please see the calendar for retreat session times.
Southeast Dharma Celebration
January 29 - 31, 2010 in Ellenton, FL
Blessing Empowerment of White Tara
with Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong
White Tara is a female Buddha known as the "compassionate mother of long life". She grants the blessings of long life, good luck and wisdom. Drawing close to White Tara we'll discover that all the pure happiness there is in the world comes not from self-concern, but from wishing others to be happy. Thinking like this we can solve our problems, experience a peaceful, happy mind all the time, and become a source of inspiration for everyone we meet.
Don’t miss this very meaningful weekend – the annual gathering of Kadampa Buddhists from the Southeast region at the beautiful Dayspring retreat center in Florida. While you are here, enjoy transformative teachings, guided meditations, and beautiful prayers for peace. Between sessions spend time exploring the woodlands and connecting with like- minded friends in the café, shop and bookstore. Everyone is welcome, whether you are new to Buddhism or an experienced practitioner!

Introduction to Buddhist Psychology

Thursdays, 7:00-8:30 with Kelsang Chokyan
Parbawatiya Kadampa Buddhist Center, 201 6th Ave S, Safety Harbor
The mind has immeasurable potential and yet very few people understand it. Understanding and changing our own mind is the very essence of spiritual practice. In this series we will learn about ancient Buddhist philosophy regarding the nature and function of the mind. By understanding the different parts of our own mind, we learn how to distinguish between beneficial and harmful states of mind and how to bring our mind under control. Then we can enjoy real peace and happiness. Everyone is welcome.
Weekly Classes on Meditation & Buddhism
Our evening meditation classes are an hour and a half in length and include guided meditations, teaching, and discussion. These classes are open to anyone who wishes to learn more about meditation, the Buddhist way of life, or those who just want a couple of hours of peace and calm! You are welcome to join at any time.
